HISTORY

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical method used for skin ageing, hair loss, stretch marks and is also used for cellulite reduction and body contouring. It was first developed in France in 1952 by the renowned French physician Dr. Michel Pistor for the management of pain and vascular disorders. However, it was discovered that depending on the different substances injected, mesotherapy might also be useful in treating hair loss (alopecia), bone and joint disorders and psoriasis. More recently mesotherapy is widely being used to help with weight loss, cellulite reduction, body sculpting, stretch marks and facial rejuvenation.

process

An initial consultation with you and your therapist will determine your skin concerns and goals. The skin is then cleansed to remove any make-up or impurities from the surface of the skin. Depending on your skin concern or goals a bespoke cocktail is then created and injected into the skin.

The process involves a series of extremely superficial micro-needles into the skin which allows for transportation of the ingredients within the cocktail to the epidermal-dermal layer of the skin. The treatment can be applied to the whole face, neck, chest and hands.

FAQ

Mesotherapy is suitable for all skin types and is a safe and effective treatment to improve skin hydration, pigmentation, dullness and signs of ageing.

Mesotherapy involves a series of small injections to the middle layer of the skin. Mesotherapy solutions can stimulate the fibroblasts to produce more collagen and prevent and reduce the signs of ageing. Amongst the list of ingredients injected are hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants and vitamins. This cocktail of ingredients nourishes and rejuvenates the skin while also stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, both essential for skin’ firmness and elasticity.

Mesotherapy injections can treat skin conditions such as ageing skin, superficial lines and wrinkles, pigmentation and dehydration.

Side effects are usually very limited, and in most cases coverable with mineral makeup. Tiny purple dots can appear at the injection sites and occasionally can including mild swelling. Apply an SPF 30+ with UVA and UVB protection daily and do not expose the skin to strong sun for at least 2 weeks after your treatment.

There is minimal discomfort from this treatment, as the needle is very fine and works quickly. However, an anaesthetic cream can be used to numb the area before the procedure keeping the treatment as comfortable as possible.

We recommend that you stop using active ingredients like retinol, tretinoin, salicylic acid or glycolic for 5 days prior treatment and refrain from taking aspirin few days before the treatment.

We recommended that you take some time to recover after your Mesotherapy treatment. You will experience some superficial swelling, which will settle within few hours. Although rare, other possible side effects include the appearance of some small needle marks which will also resolve within a few days. It is also recommended to avoid:

  • any heat treatments for 1 week after the treatment such as sauna, steam, hot baths and showers
  • any deeply exfoliating treatments for a few days such as a chemical peel or microdermabrasion
  • avoid any form of laser treatment or injectable treatment on the area for 2 – 4 weeks
  • avoid excessive exercise for 48 hours such as swimming and running.

You can see a difference immediately after your treatment. However, the results will improve over time as your body produces more collagen to hydrate and restore the skin.

For optimum results, we recommend a course of 4-6 treatments of mesotherapy once a week. Once you complete the recommended course, we recommended a maintenance treatment once a month and the results can last from 12-18 months.
