PROFHILO

Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo® it is not designed to add volume to the skin. The high concentration of hyaluronic acid means that Profhilo® acts as a hydrator rather than a filler, and therefore helps provide more plump and hydrated skin.

HISTORY

Profhilo® is one of the latest innovations to treat skin laxity and hydrate the skin by bio-remodelling. Profhilo® is a stabilised hyaluronic acid-based product and the first product free of any chemical cross-linked agents for treating skin laxity. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market.

Although the majority of dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, Profhilo® is not a dermal filler as it doesn’t add volume or enhances face features. The molecule chains of both high and low molecular weight non-animal hyaluronic acid are stabilised and fused together to create a unique complex which spreads and becomes integrated into the skin. Profhilo® diffuses within the tissue after injection and over the period of 4 weeks after each injection, it stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin.

process

Your specialist will firstly carry out a consultation with you to find out your skin concerns and goals. Your skin is then thoroughly cleansed to remove any make-up or impurities from the surface of the skin. The Profhilo® is injected into five key points on the face starting with each side just next to the ears, then on to the nasolabial folds, chin, under the eyes and on the tops of cheeks. The substance is injected just below the skin’s surface and disperses quickly across the skin to instantly boost hydration, consequently smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in improved skin texture.

Blood is first drawn from the arm, and then placed into a centrifuge which rapidly spins the blood sample, prompting it to separate into 2 components (the plasma and the cellular layer which contains both red and white blood cells.)

The concentrated PRP layer is then harvested and reinjected into the area that needs to be treated.

FAQ

Profhilo® is a great treatment for those with tired, dehydrated and ageing skin as it provides overall more plump and luminous skin. It is also ideal for those who would like to achieve natural looking and long-lasting results.

Profhilo® has been specially formulated as it contains a unique level of hyaluronic acid which helps to encourage the production of collagen and elastin.

Profhilo® injections stimulate the production of new collagen and hydrates the skin by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. The Profhilo® is injected just below the skin’s surface in a specific pattern depending on the area to be treated. It then disperses quickly across the injection site to instantly hydrate the skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and generally improving skin texture. Two treatments are required, 4 weeks apart, the first to stimulate, the second to boost and ensure longevity.

Profhilo® is used to treat skin laxity and improve skin quality. Common areas include the face, neck and décolletage but it can also be used to rejuvenate the hands and inner arms.

Treatments with hyaluronic acid are safe but not risk free. Every client seeking injectable treatments will be given an in-depth consultation to set up the expectations and to ensure that risks are minimised. Our clinic is a safe medical environment and your treatment will be carried out only by highly qualified doctors or nurses.

You may feel a tiny scratch as the needle goes in and a stinging sensation, but clients generally report only a mild discomfort. After the treatment, you may experience some tenderness for the first 24- 48 hours.

Before the procedure you may be advised to stop taking certain medication such as aspirin, Ibuprofen and a range of dietary supplements including St. John’s Wort and fish oils as they may contribute to bruising and are best avoided for 24 hours before treatment. Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection, including acne or cold sores or if you are unwell.

After the treatment you should avoid wearing make-up, going to the gym or sauna for 24 hours and avoid touching or rubbing the skin for few days post treatment. You may experience a little bruising and inflammation where the needle has punctured the skin, but this will disappear in few days. There is no downtime associated with this treatment and you should be able to return to your activities straight away.

A course of 2 treatments is recommended spaced 4 weeks apart with a maintenance treatment 4-6 months later.

Results vary between individuals. You will start to see improvements after 4 weeks from the first treatment; however the best results are normally seen 8 weeks after the first session and will last for approximately 6 months. Looking after your skin and following a good skincare regime, drinking lots of water and avoiding smoking and alcohol, may help to maintain your results for longer.
